The frame is a horizontally running construction part, which usually connects studs or furniture legs with each other. The frame can be plain and simple in design or it can also have a decorative function. Traditionally, the frame is joined to the stud by means of a "slot and tenon". In today's furniture industry, wooden dowels or eccentric bolts are usually used instead.
In the first photo you can see a French cherry table whose solid frame is inserted into the studs by means of "slot and tenon" and is also fixed with wooden nails. In the second photo you can see a so-called side frame chair, where the frame also serves as a design element and gives the chair its name.
