Small antique secretary, lady's desk

France
Walnut
around 1860

Dimensions: H x W x D: 90 x 59 x 53 cm

Description:
Quite extraordinary small piece of transforming furniture made of solid walnut.

When closed, we see an obviously three-storey side table on curved legs and with a curved cut-out frame.
On closer inspection, the two upper drawers turn out to be dummy drawers. The bottom drawer also does not open when closed.

The top panel can be folded forwards to create a writing surface and reveal the writing part hidden inside the piece of furniture. This in turn can now be pulled out upwards, unlocking the bottom drawer and locking it in place at the top.

The result is a piece of women's furniture that can be used as a desk or a secretary. The working height of the writing surface is 73 cm.

Condition:
Refurbished and ready to live in. Absolutely usable and suitable for everyday use.
