Small Biedermeier chest of drawers with exquisitely beautiful grain

South-West Germany (Baden)
Walnut
Biedermeier around 1825

Dimensions: H x W x D: 76 x 93 x 47 cm

Description:
Classic and austere Biedermeier chest of drawers with a fantastic grain pattern.

Strictly cubist furniture body standing on plinth square feet.
We see a harmoniously laid walnut not only on the front, but also on the sides and top of the piece of furniture. The grain pattern of the furniture front is laid continuously from the plinth across the drawers and also across the crossbars. It is subtly interrupted by the diamond-shaped key plates inlaid in ebony.
If we look at the top panel of the cabinet from the front at an angle, we notice that the veneer pattern is repeated here in a way that is mirrored by the front. This meticulous symmetry, combined with the rigour of the form and the warm colour of the wood, lends the chest of drawers an incredible sense of calm and coherence.

The original box lock is present in the bottom drawer, the other two locks have been replaced.

Condition: Restored and suitable for everyday use. Shellac hand polish. Wonderful colour that has "grown" over decades.

Price: 2600,- €
