Enamel

Enamel is found on the dials of antique clocks from the 18th and 19th centuries.

In simple terms, enamel is glass coloured by oxides, which is ground into powder and mixed with water and applied to a metallic object. In the melting process, an inseparable bond is formed between the glass mass (also called glass flux) and the metallic support at high temperatures.
