Biedermeier around 1820
Dimensions: H x W x D: 148 x 77 x 37 cm
Description:
Exceptionally small writing cabinet with a fantastic grain pattern.
Piece of furniture standing on pointed legs with two doors at the bottom, the writing flap above and a head drawer at the very top.
The doors are locked by the impressive original bar lock that closes upwards and downwards. Behind them are three open compartments.
Behind the writing flap we see a tidy interior. The central compartment is flanked by ebonised solid columns and is mirrored on the back. The bottom of the compartment is marbled in an unusual way. The mirror closes the circle of the wonderfully finely painted ornamentation at the back.
The compartment is surrounded by a total of ten drawers of different sizes. The removable bottom below the lower middle drawer conceals two secret drawers.
The handleless drawer above the writing compartment opens by closing the secretary flap twice.
