Ornamental ribbon

An ornamental band is a vertical or horizontal row of ornaments. This geometric or naturalistic ornamentation can be found on antique furniture in the form of marquetry, inlay or ink paintings.

The photo shows a naturalistically designed, marquetry-worked ornamental band refined with ink painting, which is used to decorate a Biedermeier chest of drawers.
