Volute

The term volute is used to describe a scroll-shaped / spirally rolled ornament.

The volute was already a popular decorative element in antiquity and was used, among other things, in the capitals of Ionic columns.
The volute is one of the most frequently used decorative elements in antique furniture making. We find them as carvings, inlays or bronze cast fittings.
