The fan is a frequently found decorative motif on antique furniture.

Taken from Renaissance architecture, we find the fan not only as a semicircle but also as a complete circle. In this case we speak of a fan rosette.

We find fans as carved elements or as - often fire-shaded - inlay or marquetry work.
