Metropolitan Museum - 19th-Century America - Furniture and Other Decorative Arts


This volume is an exhibition catalogue of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The exhibition took place from 16 April to 7 September 1970 and was organised on the occasion of the museum's centenary.

The catalogue deals with furniture and other decorative arts of the 19th century in America. It is organised according to object groups, with separate contributions for furniture and other areas of the decorative arts.

The introduction is by Berry B. Tracy, curator of the American Wing. The texts on the furniture were written by Marilynn Johnson. The contributions on the other decorative arts are by Marvin D. Schwartz and Suzanne Boorsch.

The volume was published by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and distributed by the New York Graphic Society Ltd. The bibliographical information refers to a publication in connection with the above-mentioned exhibition.
