This two-volume work is a fundamental reference work on the history of clockmaking in Denmark before 1900. It includes a comprehensive biographical index with around 8000 Danish clockmakers as well as an index of signatures with over 4500 clockmaker signatures, which makes it easier to identify clocks. This is supplemented by a topographical index, which categorises the clockmakers geographically and documents the places where they worked. The publication thus combines biographical, movement-related and regional information and represents a central source for research into the art of Danish clockmaking.
