Möbel in Schleswig-Holstein - Katalog des Städtischen Museums Flensburg

Westholsteinische Verlagsanstalt Boyens & Co, 1983 ISBN 3-8042-0314-0.

This richly illustrated catalogue documents the cultural-historical furniture collection of the Flensburg Museum, which was founded by Heinrich Sauermann in 1876. The collection includes important individual pieces of arts and crafts as well as furniture typical of the North German bourgeoisie and rural living culture, including imported furniture from seafaring homes. Ellen Redlefsen, former museum director, deliberately expands the concept of furniture in this work to include regional specialities. The volume contains a typological classification (including cupboards, chests, beds, seating furniture, clocks, children's furniture), an illustrated section and a scholarly appendix with a bibliography.
