Heinrich Kreisel - Die Kunst des deutschen Möbels - Spätbarock und Rokoko

The second volume of this major work on furniture deals with the 18th century up to around 1770, i.e. up to the beginning of the classicist tendencies in German interior design. This volume on "Late Baroque and Rococo" is based on the results of Kreisel's almost fifty years of research into German furniture, primarily from the 18th century, which he set down in a whole series of individual studies. It was the author's intention to provide a scholarly basis for the major topic of "Late Baroque and Rococo furniture in the German-speaking world, including the peripheral regions". Both the text and the extremely rich pictorial documentation show that this intention - as far as this is possible today - has been realised. It is a work for the friends, connoisseurs and admirers of this outstanding branch of German craftsmanship, in what is perhaps the greatest century of its artistic production.
