Mobilier de Haute Normandie.
Paris: Éditions Massin, 1995. ISBN 978-2-7072-0258-1.
This work is dedicated to the typical regional furniture of Upper Normandy, in particular the representative cabinet of the Pays de Caux as a central expression of this furniture culture. The publication emphasises the formal and constructive features, including the solid oak construction, the clear architectural structure and the high-quality craftsmanship.
Particular attention is paid to the rich carved ornamentation, which ranges from floral motifs to symbolic representations such as roses and doves and fulfils both decorative and iconographic functions. The furniture is understood as an expression of regional identity, the development of which is closely linked to the social, cultural and material conditions of Normandy.
The structure of the content follows thematic chapters on typologies, ornamentation and regional characteristics as well as exemplary individual pieces.
