ISBN 3-8228-6958-9

This opulently appointed reference work offers a comprehensive overview of three centuries of European furniture history on over 750 pages and with more than 1300 colour illustrations - from Rococo to Classicism, Historicism and Art Nouveau to Art Deco. The focus is on furniture from France, England, Italy and Germany.

The thematic organisation follows the most important stylistic periods and workshops as well as the leading furniture makers and designers, including André-Charles Boulle, Jean-François Oeben, Thomas Chippendale, Michael Thonet and William Morris. In addition to representative individual pieces, typical furniture types and constructions are also analysed.

The book is based on the Grande enciclopedia dell'Antiquariato and combines art-historical depth with an encyclopaedic approach.
