Walnut
Baroque around 1750
Dimensions: H x W x D: 82 x 109 x 59 cm
Description:
Four-sided baroque chest of drawers in walnut veneer with band inlays of plum wood.
The piece of furniture stands on squeeze feet and has a curved front. Beautifully grained veneer. The top edge, the crossbars and the base are veneered upright as is typical for the time, or made of end-grain wood pieces laid together.
Also typical of the period and region are the zinc plated drawer corner joints, which are concealed at the front by the protruding front.
The "missing" keyhole fittings on the drawer fronts are conspicuous. The chest of drawers has a central lock attached to the side. A locking bar is set into the right-hand side of the drawers, which locks all four drawers at the same time.
Neatly mirrored laid grain on the top panel.
Roughened back panel.
Condition:
The chest of drawers was refurbished a few years ago and is in very good condition.
