Worth knowing:
Linen cupboards differ from wardrobes in their dimensions. The greater depth of wardrobes makes it possible to attach a clothes rail. Linen cupboards, on the other hand, were fitted with shelves on which the clothes were placed. As they were also used to store table or bed linen, linen cupboards were also known as white goods cupboards.
These wardrobes, which were sometimes made in pairs, were designed for use in bedrooms or children's rooms. Today, they are also popular in living and dining areas for storing crockery.
