Description:
Antique bakbarometer, Dutch weather station.
Mahogany veneered and solid.
High rectangular corpus with cracked gable.
Behind the hinged glass pane are two barometers and a thermometer.
We see the two-part barometer tube filled with mercury and alcohol according to the principle of Christiaan Huygens, as well as the simple tube according to the Torricelli principle. Both are equipped with scales for reading the expected weather.
There is also a thermometer with temperature measurement in Fahrenheit and Réaumur.
Signed: "J. Toosten Dordrecht 1852". Inscriptions in Dutch.
Condition: Authentic condition, old restored. Glass tubes and liquid levels intact.
