Points of interest:
We refer to the transitional phase to historicism as late Biedermeier or Louis-Philippe. Towards the middle of the 19th century, the strict cubist lines of Biedermeier were supplemented by more playful forms and ultimately replaced altogether.
This chest of drawers is a fine example of this period, in which the basic forms of the Biedermeier era are still preserved, the veneer pattern continues to contribute significantly to the design of the piece of furniture, but the first curves and playfulness have already found their way into furniture making.
