Description:
Unusually small mantel clock depicting a winged warrior laying down his weapons.
Round, downward tapering feet support the base plate. On the front we see an applied garland and a burning heart in which an arrow is stuck.
The winged warrior stands on the plinth with his bow in one hand. His other hand is still raised; he has just thrown off his glove, as well as his arrows, the torch and a laurel wreath.
The warrior is dressed in a cloth, he also wears boots, a chest band, two bracelets and a helmet.
The texture of the skin and cloth can be guessed at through the chasing, and the alternation of bright and matt gilding gives the figure a structure.
To the right of the warrior is a rectangular block that conceals the movement. From the front we see the white enamelled dial with the signature Collin Palais Royal No 166, presumably not the watchmaker but the dealer who sold the watch. The movement itself, a pocket watch movement with verge escapement is also signed: F. Kraenthel per e CHARLEROI. The movement has a duration of one day.
