Description:
Exceptional, extendable and multifunctional game table with extensive original accessories.
When closed, we see a table that can be used as a console with fine floral marquetry on the top. The legs taper downwards and end in brass sabots. Further precisely fitting brass fittings can be found on the leg mouldings and in the frame of the top plate.
Turning and opening the top reveals a 92 x 102 cm playing field covered in green felt for card and dice games. There is an embedded patent plaque on the edge of the playing field: E.S BTÈE S.G.D.G. PARIS.
The base frame of the table can be extended outwards to a total length of 136 cm. The now visible compartments contain a box with various gaming utensils and a wooden roulette wheel. The corresponding roulette tableau is stored underneath the frame and is placed on the playing field for playing. The roulette wheel mechanism works perfectly.
When we lift out the roulette wheel and the wooden box next to it, a backgammon board is revealed. The 20 light-coloured and 20 dark-coloured checkers are stored in a lidded compartment next to the playing field.
In the aforementioned wooden box are two leather dice cups, a complete set of dominoes with 28 tiles, a lithographed and complete deck of 32 cards, a hinged and hand-painted Jeu de l'Oie board and a Les Jonchets pack in its original box. All these accessories date from the time the table was made and are probably original.
Condition:
The table is in refurbished, authentic and fully functional condition. The surface has been polished with shellac.
Less robust materials such as the fabric of the roulette playing field and the paper accessories show signs of age and use.
