Biedermeier wardrobe

Bavaria
Walnut, maple burl
Biedermeier around 1820

Dimensions: H x W x D: 181 x 139 x 53 cm

Description:
Antique cabinet with beautiful grain and warm colour tone. The format is unusual with a height of only 181 cm.

The body stands on curved square legs. Harmoniously mirrored walnut veneer patterns running the full height of the door. The grain is interrupted by the black edging of the door panels. Further ebonising can be seen on the cornice of the cabinet and on the moulding of the plinth.
The large brass key plates are typical of the area.
The plinth, head, pilaster strips and striking strip are veneered in burl wood and give the cabinet its unmistakable character. As burl wood is not available in the full length required, it was joined together from several smaller pieces. To make the joint edges as inconspicuous as possible, they were cut in a wavy pattern similar to the wood structure. This can be clearly seen in some of the photos.

When the doors are open, we can see the original two-handle lock and the original recessed catches on the left-hand door.
There are three large shelves in the interior and a half-depth shelf at the top. A clothes rail would also be conceivable. We would be happy to customise the interior according to your wishes.
There is an old owner's label and a transport sticker from the Reichseisenbahn on the right-hand side of the interior. There is another owner's note from 1923 on the back wall: Rupert Maier, Rosengasse 343 in Landshut.

The cabinet can be completely dismantled for transport, see photo.

Condition: Restored and polished with shellac.

Price: This cabinet has already been sold. I offer objects comparable in quality and age for about 4500,-€ to 5500,-€.
