Description:
Exceptional chest of drawers from Italian classicism, decorated all over with fine marquetry.
Three-bayed piece of furniture standing on short pointed legs. The basic veneer is walnut, partly laid in straight lines, partly diagonally.
The three drawers each have two marquetry fields delimited by mouldings. We see urban views with partly multi-storey residential buildings, churches and fortifications.
Inlay work of the same quality and similar depiction can also be found on the sides and the top plate of the piece of furniture.
Architectural surface designs of this kind are known from the regions of Emilia-Romagna and Lombardy in northern Italy.
Condition:
Restored and perfect condition. Shellac hand polish.
Price: This piece of furniture has already been sold. Comparable objects in terms of age, quality and condition are priced at around €6,000 to €8,000.
