Mahogany
early 19th century
Dimensions: H x W x D: 77 x 64 x 50 cm, seat height: 44 cm
Description:
Square legs, slightly sabre-shaped at the front and back, support the upholstered seat covered in green leather. A wide backrest, veneered with selected mahogany and decorated with carved hand knobs in the shape of lion heads, follows the semi-circular shape of the frame. The gold-coloured brass nails of the upholstery enrich the play of colours between the iridescent red tones of the mahogany wood and the moss-green leather cover of the seat.
Similar armchairs are known from various Parisian furniture manufacturers, such as the Jacob brothers.
Condition:
The bureau armchair is in a well-kept, ready-to-live-in condition with beautiful age patina.
