Antique grandfather clock with folklore painting

Antique grandfather clock in typical Swedish form with an upwardly tapering base, a pear-shaped centrepiece and a round head.

The elaborate folklore painting is unusual, depicting the rural Swedish way of life with its customs, traditional costumes and dances.
In the lower section, for example, we see three young women in traditional dresses and with small bouquets of flowers in their hands. Walking under a blue sky and along the lakeshore, they epitomise the romantic idea of Scandinavian summer.
Above them, framed by oak leaves and wreaths of flowers and stars, we see a round dance in a rural setting as well as other genre scenes and flower hangings.

The white-coloured dial with black numerals and brass hands is relatively simple in design.

The movement has a running time of one week and strikes a bell on the hour.

Condition:
The case is in beautiful condition with slight signs of age and wear commensurate with its age.
The movement has been dismantled, thoroughly cleaned and overhauled. It runs absolutely reliably.

The condition as found compared to the condition after restoration can be clearly seen in some of the photos.
