Description:
Solid cherry chairs standing on tapered, flared legs at the front and sabre legs at the back. Straight frame with wide ebony inlay.
Backboard with lyre-shaped decorative scrollwork and vine leaf marquetry.
Repeating inlays like those on the backrests of these chairs are known from the area around Mainz. The motifs were punched and are therefore exactly identical. The counter mould was also punched so that the woods could be fitted together with absolute precision.
Condition:
Stable condition, refurbished while retaining the patina. Newly upholstered, newly covered.
