Dimensions: H x W x D: 178 x 97 x 40 cm

Description:
Small cabinet from the early Biedermeier period with a strikingly beautiful veneer pattern.

The body stands on tapered square legs with protruding doors suspended from hinges. The lower rebate of the doors blocks the plinth drawer so that it can only be pulled out when the doors are open. A single key therefore locks both the doors and the drawer.

This cabinet is a prime example of the Biedermeier design of furniture surfaces using bookmatching grain patterns. The veneer pattern running the full height of the cabinet is not only repeated from door to door, but also on the sides of the cabinet, as you can see in the angled view photo. It is rare to see such a carefully selected grain pattern - it lends the furniture absolute calm and harmony.
The flatness of the surfaces is subtly interrupted by thin blackened mouldings on the cornice and plinth as well as ebonised drawer handles and diamond-shaped key plates.

Inside the wardrobe there are four height-adjustable shelves with toothed rails and a rod for hanging clothes hangers or hooks at the top.

Condition:
Refurbished condition with a classic shellac hand polish. Beautiful and authentic patina.
