Edith Mannoni - Mobilier Savoyard & Dauphinois

Mobilier Savoyard & Dauphinois is a volume in the series "Le mobilier régional", published by Massin.

The publication deals with the traditional furniture culture of the Alpine regions of Savoy and Dauphiné. The author describes materials, craft techniques and functional forms of regional furniture making and places them in their geographical, social and political context. Differences and similarities between the two regions are explained against the background of their respective historical development and their integration into supra-regional exchange relations.

The main focus is on rural furniture made from local solid woods such as cherry, walnut and softwood, but veneered furniture, particularly from the Hache workshop in Grenoble, is also analysed.
