Mahogany
Mid 19th century
Dimensions: H x W x D: 198 x 138 x 49 cm
Description:
Front glazed bookcase from the late Biedermeier era circa 1850-1860.
The corpus stands on carved round feet.
At the front we see two drawers with inset segmentation at the bottom. Above them are the glazed doors, each with three promised panels.
Very interesting, worked out as bundle pillars, the pilaster strips end at the bottom in the foot and at the top in ornate capitals with acanthus carving.
The interior of the cabinet is divided in two by a central wall. Both sides are divided by height-adjustable shelves.
The piece of furniture can be fully disassembled for transport into the lower section, sides, centre wall, shelves, doors and three back wall elements.
Condition:
Restored and polished with shellac. The locks were no longer present and were added during the refurbishment.
The right outer part of the plinth was newly veneered in an older restoration, this can be seen clearly in one of the photos.
