Beautiful set of provincial French chairs with typical Directoire decoration.
The round legs at the front end with two rosettes at the top, the curved square legs at the back merge into the elaborately designed backrest at the top.
In the upper crossbar we see a field framed by corner compartments with an urn vase in a horizontal diamond. The openwork below shows an ornamentally framed star.

On the underside of the rear frame is a stamped signature J-E CORYN.

A doubling of the frame construction can also be seen from below. The complete inner frame, including the corresponding corner spandrels, was added in an older restoration and reinforces the stability of the chairs.

Condition:
Refurbished condition. The wood has been cleaned and newly polished. The upholstery comes from an earlier restoration and is ready for a new upholstery fabric of your choice.
