Description:
A very richly inlaid and marquetry piece of furniture.
Trefoil base. Curved legs with so-called leg-shoulder inlay.
The baluster foot is also finely inlaid with a fillet band of maple and fruitwood.
Marquetry edge on the top.
Table top with fine geometric marquetry around the central chessboard.
The top is screwed to the base using a large wooden thread and can therefore be easily dismantled for transport.
Condition:
Restored ready to use. Shellac polish. The figures shown in the photos are not included in the price.
Interesting facts:
The town of Sorrento near Naples was famous for its woodworking workshops in the mid-19th century. This table is absolutely typical of the region.
