Southern Germany
Walnut
Biedermeier c. 1820
Dimensions: H x W x D: 89 x 103 x 54 cm
Description:
Dreamlike Franconian chest of drawers with freestanding columns.
Standing on curved flared pointed legs typical of the time and region.
We see a calm and clean grain pattern on the furniture front, sides and top. The light walnut veneer is discreetly interrupted by ebonised sections on the base and the edge of the top plate. The key escutcheons in the shape of a coat of arms are made of ebony.
This well-proportioned and superbly crafted chest of drawers is a wonderful example of the purity of style of the Biedermeier period circa 1820.
Condition:
Furniture refurbished to a living standard and suitable for everyday use.
The drawers run cleanly and smoothly. The locks are original, the keys were copied.
