Small chest of drawers

Scandinavia
Birch
Mid 19th century

Dimensions: H x W x D: 99 x 96 x 44 cm

Description:
Small antique secretary made of solid birch wood. Pieces of furniture of this type are also called writing commode or chest of drawers.

The writing furniture stands on a semi-circular skirting board. The neatly worked corner joint is clearly visible from the outside. It is a semi-concealed dovetail joint - semi-concealed because it is openly visible from the outside but not from the front. Personally, I like the visible handcrafted construction - nothing is hidden here and nothing has to hide here!

Of the four drawers, the top one is designed as a writing drawer. The front can be folded down and thus serves as a writing and working surface. Inside there are six further smaller drawers.

Condition:
Refurbished and ready to live in. The drawers run cleanly and smoothly, the locks work. The beautiful light birch wood has been polished with shellac, preserving the original patina.

Price: 2150,-€
