Walnut a.o.
Baroque around 1760
Dimensions: H x W x D: 85 x 116 x 66 cm
Description:
Three-bay piece of furniture standing on feet worked out as lion's paws.
Very elegant furniture front with several curves and bends. It is impressive to see the accuracy with which the strongly curved drawers are still aligned today, approx. 270 years after they were made.
Veneered in walnut and walnut root with maple thread inlays. The original fittings blend harmoniously into the overall picture.
The crossbars, the plinth and the edge of the top are made of end-grain wood, as is typical of the period.
The front of the top follows the shape of the corpus, but takes the final curve into the side section, which emphasises the character of the strongly moving appearance.
The symmetrically laid grain pattern on the top is artfully framed by geometrically and angularly twisted marquetry of maple, plum and bog oak.
Condition:
Refurbished piece of furniture suitable for everyday use. The drawers run smoothly, the locks work.
