Antique brewing table

Description:
Long and narrow brewer's table made of solid oak with wonderful signs of age and patina. Optimal for 8-10 persons.

The base is reinforced at the bottom with an H-brace. The solid oak of the long brace is sagging slightly, the old beer glaze is hardly preserved here due to decades of use. The situation is different with the legs and the frame of the table. The original paint finish of the late 19th century is absolutely authentic here, in keeping with its age, except in the handle area of the drawer.

The table top is particularly beautiful and, as was customary at the time, was made from only two wide planks.
Since the top has probably been nailed with cloth or linoleum umpteen times in the course of its long existence and rustic origins, there are numerous nail marks and dark discolouration in the areas where the iron of the nails has reacted with the tannic acid of the oak wood.
Some may see this as damage or blemishes, but I see it as authentic patina and visibility of a piece of furniture that has lived and been used a lot.

If this table could tell...

Condition:
Refurbished condition. The legs are "shoehorned" at the bottom to bring the table up to today's standard height.
Neither the table top nor the base has been sanded. The wood and the colour frame have been gently cleaned, cracks and unevenness have been puttied. Finally, the surface was oiled to make it suitable for everyday use. The table is well suited for families with small children, as it definitely forgives any further quirks.
