Description:
Very richly inlaid and marked piece of furniture.
Three-piece base. Curved legs with so-called leg shoulder inlay.
The baluster foot is also finely inlaid with a fillet band of maple and fruitwood.
Top edge consisting of pieces of wood laid end to end.
Table top with fine geometric marquetry around the central chess set. Measurements of the individual squares: 35 x 35 mm.
Condition:
Restored to a good standard. Shellac polish. Without pieces.
Fun Facts:
The town of Sorrento near Naples was famous for its woodworking workshops in the mid-19th century. This table is absolutely typical for the area.
