Extendable antique dining table for 8 people

France
Walnut
early 19th century

Dimensions: H x W x D: 79 x 116 x 70 cm
Extendable to: H x W x L: 77 x 116 x 260 cm

Description:
Antique, hinged console table made of solid walnut. The semi-circular shape gives the type its name "Demi Lune".
When closed, we see a console that can be positioned excellently as occasional furniture on the wall at the back. The double top plate and the three rows of legs at the back catch the eye immediately.

The rear of the three pairs of legs serve as support surfaces for the top plate, which, when unfolded, turns the console into a dining table for 4-6 people.

The table can be extended to approx. 260 cm by means of a so-called link system. To do this, two boards, each 60 cm wide, are inserted. Now the table can be used very comfortably for 8 people, but even ten people can sit a little closer together. Of course, the table can also be used with only one board and a length of 200 cm.

Condition:
Refurbished condition with patina preserved. The pull-out mechanism works perfectly. The table is stable and suitable for everyday use. The surface is oiled and can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.
The two inlay boards have been added. The legs have been extended by approx. 3 cm at the bottom to achieve a "modern" dining table height.
