Northern Germany
Birch
Biedermeier around 1820

Dimensions: H x W x D: 76 x 87 x 44 cm, total height with mirror: 161 cm.

Description:
Exceptional antique dressing table with mirror and candlesticks. Birch veneered on softwood.
The piece of furniture is absolutely rare in its execution. The proportions appear slender and harmonious, the ebonised elements contrast beautifully with the light wood.

The strictly cubistically designed sideboard has two doors with four drawers behind them made of solid pine.
Above the doors is another wide drawer that holds an interior of five lidded compartments. The lids are designed with thread inlays of light and dark contrasting woods.
This design can also be found on the overhanging top plate. Here, the geometric marquetry is complemented by four dark squares on the corners. In addition, there are two round shelves with finely embossed brass rims for vials, jars and bottles.

The mirror at the back is firmly attached but can be removed for transport. Its inclination can be adjusted. On the left and right we see two adjustable brass candle holders.
The upper finish is the triangular pediment, adorned by an ornate embossed woman's face in brass.

Condition:
Restored to a residential and shellac polished condition. All drawers run cleanly and smoothly, the locks work. Original mirror glass.

Price: This piece is already sold.
