Walnut
around 1860
Dimensions: H x W x L: 76 x 129 x 62 cm - extendable to 284 cm
Description:
Quite exceptional antique solid walnut dining table with wonderful patina and original brass castors.
When folded, we see a semi-circular table, derived from this shape reminiscent of a half moon, the furniture type is also called Demi Lune table. The console stands on a total of eight slightly curved and multi-profiled turned legs. The dimensions when folded are: width 129 cm and depth 62 cm.
If we pull on the frame at the back, a kind of drawer opens which serves as a support for the second half of the table. The result is a slightly oval table with a diameter of 129 x 124 cm.
The table can now be extended by means of a so-called link system, i.e. a wooden pull-out system that runs together and into each other. There are four insert boards with which the table can be extended by approx. 40 cm each. This results in a total length of 284 cm.
When fully extended, there is a legroom of approx. 74 cm.
The table can be comfortably used for 10 adults, with children you can certainly entertain 2 more people.
Condition:
Finished restored piece of furniture. The surface is oiled for everyday use, can be wiped clean with a damp cloth and is absolutely authentic in its preservation. There are visible traces of age and use. A great patina that has been expertly refurbished and preserved.
The shelves are made of old wood, also oiled and harmonise perfectly with the rest of the furniture.
The legs are "shoed" at the bottom, i.e. extended by a few centimetres to adapt it to today's height standard.
The system runs absolutely "smoothly", you can see that well on the video.
