End of 19th century
Dimensions: height: 81-115 cm, width: 80 cm, depth: 40 cm
Description:
Reading table made of solid pine wood, adjustable in height and inclination.
The table top is mounted on a stable and elegantly profiled column. There is a crank on the outside which can be used to adjust the table top to the desired height. The inclination can be locked using a nut underneath the table top.
Also underneath the plate is a stamp "BREVETE W S.G.D.G.", which confirms the patent registered in Paris.
There is another stamp to the right of the crank. The "BAZAR DU VOYAGE PARIS" was founded in 1843 and developed into one of the most important furniture department stores in Paris in the second half of the 19th century.
With its off-centre column and castors attached to the underside, the table was designed to be pushed from the outside onto a bed or an armchair. The tilt can be adjusted in both directions, so there are also ledges on both sides as bookends.
Condition: Refurbished condition with beautiful age patina.
