Paris
Brass, marble
around 1850
Dimensions: H x W x D: 23 x 39 x 20 cm
Description:
Very rare to find antique desk set with extremely high quality pendulette.
Marble base standing on round feet. In the front part of the marble we see an elongated recess for placing pens and other writing utensils.
Behind it, to the left and right, are two crystal glass containers for ink and grit.
The highlight of the set is the Moser travelling clock, a so-called carriage or officer's clock, which is firmly mounted in the centre of the marble.
The case of the clock is glazed so that one can look at the clean and from scratch overhauled movement with echappement.
The dial is signed: Taveau & Duplan a Paris. Next to the main dial, we see two sub-dials for the date and the day of the week. Below that are the winding quads for the walking and striking movements.
If we open the rear door, we see the bell, which is struck every half hour by means of the lock disc striking movement.
The movement is stamped: Moser a Paris.
The clock is crowned by a vase made partly of porcelain and partly of bronze.
Condition:
Very good and restored condition. Rubbing of the gilding on the porcelain. Overhauled and clean running movement.
Price: This object is no longer available.
