Rare piece of French Louis XVI style furniture from the so-called Napoleon III era.

When closed, we see a small console table or desk with a wide drawer.
The piece of furniture stands on round, downward tapering, fluted legs in brass sabots. The lower rim of the frame as well as the edge of the top are studded with brass profiles. The top plate is ornately decorated with a handle vase surrounded by acanthus vines. The marquetry is finely engraved and in excellent condition.

If we slide the table top backwards and open the drawer, a small fabric-covered work area emerges. This in turn can be set up and is fitted with a mirror on the back, making the piece of furniture usable as a dressing table.
If the mirror is folded back again, the top plate that was previously pushed back can be opened to reveal a fabric-covered surface for playing cards and dice.

A very high quality piece of French Historicist furniture.

Condition:
Very beautiful state of preservation. Restored and polished with shellac. The blue fabric is old and can easily be replaced.
