Art Deco Secretary

Description:
Base resting on paw feet with H-bracing on the underside and decorative bracing on the front.
Above the frame are two large drawers with ring-shaped brass handles.
The writing flap is ornately decorated with mirrored ash veneer in a cartouche-like border. The rest of the furniture exterior is veneered in birch.

The interior of the secretary is veneered in dark burl with geometric inlays of ash.
In the centre is a large open arched compartment. It is surrounded by a total of two doors and five drawers.

On the back is the maker's label: Carl Johansons Möbleringsaffär Stockholm.

Beautiful small and very neatly crafted secretary.
With its strict geometric symmetry and the slight playfulness in the underframe, this piece of furniture is a wonderful and stylistically typical example of the glamorous era of Art Deco!

Condition:
The piece of furniture has been restored ready for living and is in perfect condition. The drawers run smoothly. All locks work, the keys are present. The surface is polished with shellac. The flamed birch wood has a wonderful "depth".
