Description:
Curved feet ending in volutes and curved base section of solid walnut.
Three-bay, slightly convex chest of drawers. Slightly projecting top.
The drawer fronts and also the top and sides are fielded with straight wide band inlays of plum wood. The panels themselves are decorated with square walnut panels laid in a chequerboard pattern, the different grain patterns providing a restrained enlivenment of the surface.
The veneer surrounding the panels is arranged diagonally, thus rounding off the beautiful overall appearance.
The bulbous basic form and also the curved plinth are typical stylistic features of the Baroque period, but the geometric fields, the chequerboard decoration and the hardware can already be attributed to Classicism.
