Jaeger-LeCoultre Atmos clock with a square dial from 1977

Description:
Atmos VIII in a gold-plated, matt-brushed case with polished legs. Swinging pendulum with vertical milled stripes.
White square dial with Arabic numerals.
The inscription ‘LeCoultre’ appears below the 12 o’clock mark and ‘SWISS MADE’ near the 6 o’clock mark.
This model was produced under reference number 5903 from 1969 to 1984.

The calibre number 528 is engraved on the brass plate above the 6. This can be clearly seen in one of the accompanying photographs.

Condition:
The clock runs absolutely reliably and keeps perfect time.
In very good condition with slight signs of wear and use, as is to be expected given its age. The photos have not been ‘retouched’; the condition of the case is as shown in the photos.

I offer a one-year warranty on the movement, provided it is set up and handled correctly.

Interesting facts:
The ‘clock that runs on air’ uses the ‘breathing movements’ of a gas-filled bellows, caused by temperature fluctuations, to wind the movement.
The clock’s movement is characterised by its cylindrical casing on the reverse. Inside this, within a bellows-shaped expansion chamber, is chloroethyl, a gas that expands particularly significantly between 10 °C and 27 °C.
For the clock to keep accurate time, it must be placed in a stable, vibration-free position.
