France
Rosewood
Louis XV around 1740
Dimensions: H x W x D: 83 x 121 x 64 cm
Description:
French four-bay chest of drawers from the middle of the 18th century.
Piece of furniture standing on stud feet and veneered in rosewood.
The front is divided into two wide drawers below and two narrower drawers above. The bronze fittings mounted in the same way on all levels ensure that the three rows of drawers look the same at first glance. The design of the veneer also underlines this impression.
Different grain patterns of one and the same type of wood discreetly divide the visible surfaces. The drawer fronts, for example, are divided into rectangular areas, while the sides and the top panel are veneered in a diamond shape.
There is an old Paris inventory sticker on the back panel.
Condition:
Refinished condition with age-typical traces of use and environmental influences. Shrinkage cracks in the drawer bottoms and back panel have been closed, loosened veneers have been glued down, the fittings have been cleaned.
Price: 3650,-€
