Paris
Marble, enamel
around 1860-1870
Dimensions: H x W x D: 30 x 24 x 14 cm
Description:
Extremely rare historicism pendulum in black marble case typical of the period. Curved base, slightly protruding top plate.
The elegant dial with six complications stands out from the plain black case made of polished marble.
Also typical of the period is the two-part main dial, which shows the Roman hour numerals on the outer scale.
On the slightly recessed middle section we see the real highlight of the watch - six small sub-dials.
At XII we see the small seconds, at II the age of the moon, at IIII the day of the month is shown, at VI the month. On the VIII, the position of the sun is shown from Lever (rising) to Midi (noon) to Coucher (setting) and Minuit (midnight). On the X we see the day of the week with the opposite associated symbol.
The gilded lynette and the likewise gilded ring within the dial add beautiful accents.
Eight-day walking movement with strike on bell at the half and full hour.
Movement stamped G. Moser Paris.
Condition: Freshly overhauled condition. Flawless in function. Clean marble. If the black of the marble appears irregular in the photos, this is a display problem. I would be happy to send you photos showing the condition of the case by mail.
