Description:
Set of six French Directoire chairs made of mahogany.
The square legs are curved, taper discreetly downwards and merge into the backrest at the back.
The backrest is carved in low relief. As was customary in provincial France in the early 19th century, palmettes and hanging work are depicted in the typical manner of the Directoire era.
The upper end is formed by the likewise typical semi-circular bar that follows the shape of the backrest.
Condition:
Restored and polished with shellac. Newly upholstered, newly covered. The legs have been extended by about 3 cm at the bottom to achieve a "modern" seat height.
