Description:
Antique mantel clock in the shape of an urn vase.
Clock standing on golden feet decorated as lion paws. The stylised lid goblet is made of fire-gilded and patinated bronze. All sides are decorated with palmettes.
On the left and right, artistically designed dragon-like fabulous vises climb up the cup.
The large enamelled dial forms the centre of the front view. On a white background we see the black Roman hour numerals and Arabic quarter hours.
The finely worked lily hands fit harmoniously into the overall picture of the clock.
The heart of the clock is a typical French pendulum movement with a lock plate striking mechanism. It runs for eight days and is wound by means of a square key on the front of the dial.
The thread suspension, which is also typical of the period, is adjusted by a shaft on the back of the clock.
The clock strikes once on the half hour and the number of strikes corresponding to the time on the hour.
Condition:
Excellent condition of the movement. The movement has been completely disassembled and professionally cleaned from top to bottom.
The original fire gilding is in fantastic and absolutely authentic condition. Even the often heavily used smooth surfaces are only minimally rubbed. The patination has rubbing especially on the back of the clock.
Price: This clock has already been sold. Comparable objects are priced around 3000,-€ to 3500,-€.
