Antique Biedermeier display cabinet with drawers

Northern Germany
Birch
Biedermeier around 1830

Dimensions: H x W x D: 193 x 108 x 50 cm

Description:
Antique Biedermeier bookcase with three wide drawers in the lower section, two glazed doors above and a stepped top with a narrow Schinkel pediment and a drawer corresponding to this width.

The block feet following the shape of the carcase are just as typical of the style as the drawers that protrude slightly beyond the depth of the carcase and the striking crossbars.
The light-coloured key plates set subtle accents in the simple grain pattern of the birch wood. The interior of the display cabinet area is also light-coloured.
The four glass panes are old and have a characteristic, slightly wavy structure, which can be clearly seen in the attached video.

The three-part top, consisting of the two staircase-like side sections and the centre section with drawer, is removable. This reduces the overall height of the piece of furniture to around 170 cm.

Condition:
Refurbished and suitable for everyday use. Shellac hand polish.
