Exceptional antique grandfather clock

Antique grandfather clock made of solid birch wood with solid columns in black. Exceptional and rare model.

The base tapers conically towards the top. Ebonised feet and columns supporting the central board.
On top of this board we see a semi-circular carcass with door for operating the weights and the pendulum. Flanking solid columns, also blackened.
The head of the clock is particularly artistically crafted, its curves completely carved and polished from the solid wood. A truly fantastic piece of work. The great patina of the wood gives the clock its incomparable character.

I am particularly impressed by the original curved glass. In one of the photos, you can see the irregular waviness of the almost 200-year-old material. For me, this great, quaint and characterful glass alone is a true highlight of this clock.

The movement is an 8-day movement with strike on the bell on the half and full hour. It is wound weekly by means of a key on the dial.

Original hand-sawn brass hands. Original pendulum and weights.
Regionally typical painted dial with hardly legible signature: J.W. Appelquist (?) Jönköping.

Condition:
Clock case refurbished ready for living.
The movement was completely disassembled and cleaned from scratch. On one of the photos you can see the movement in disassembled condition. The clock runs very well and reliably. In the video you can see the clock running and striking without the dial and case. The ticking of the clock seems quite loud in the video, but is greatly muffled by the case and is absolutely not unpleasant.
